Colorado consumers just recieved a huge boost from the Senate! SB 256 passed and is on its way to Gov. Ritter's desk. This bill allows ones own insurance to "stack" on top of the at-fault party's insurance. What does this mean? The amount of insurance coverage available for medical bills, as well as non-economic danages, will at least double in 95% of all cases. Neutral estimates suggest this will raise insurance rates roughly $2 per month. Finally, a victory for Colorado consumers, after getting raked over the coals in the 2003 switch from no-fault insurance to a pure tort system. Govenor Ritter is expected to sign the bill into law. |
